Thanks, Bobby! Great idea!
How does one hand tie ott bands on the axiom ocularus?
If you want to tie your bands in, the Ocularis system is not for you. The Ocularis system is designed to use the plug!
What’s the fps with standard flat bands on the xt head? 3/8 steel ammo.
The standard bands will CRUSH 3/8 steel. You can tune them well over 300 fps nooo problem. We’ve seen customers break 400 with our standard bandsets.
Been trying for 3 mons to buy a scout sling shot, dont have an online acc, but more than willing to come to you
Constantly shooting to right, but not by much, think it mite be the way im holding sling shot and would a store bought sling shot be better. Still wanting the scout, mabey some day thanks
This is personally for Nathan Masters. Hey Nathan first off I’m a big fan. Second Blue was a very close friend of mine and I know he was to you as well. Looking for help on making a production model of my personal slingshot. Could we communicate somehow. I’d love to get some advice. Thank you very much

Thank you William!
We’re guessing you mean the little fly-in subscription?
You actually were the first one to bring this error to our attention. It’s only supposed to show once per session. Unfortunately we somehow unchecked the box and it didn’t stop showing!
Great catch and it should only show once now and be done.
Pouch holds. Everyone has a different style but the point is to allow an even amount of pressure during the hold and release. What are your thoughts on this? And also, how is stance or body posturing affecting the trajectory of the shot; everything from fingers, wrist angles, elbows, shoulders, to breathing, torso rotation, leaning forward or back and head/ neck angle?
Thanks SimpleShot!
Hi,
Purchase a Hammer last week – love it! Great support with the Academy videos and articles!
Suggestion: Put a link to the Simpleshot Academy under the “Learn” section of the main Simpleshot website.
Best,
Dave
The actual LEARN link itself gets you here. Good to know that’s not as clear as it should be. We’ll fix that right up! Thanks!
I’ll bet there are a lot of sling bow shooters that would like to see a tutorial on how to choose what arrows to use for your Hammer Sling Bow. Just how do you determine your draw length? How long is your power stroke? How much arrow should should stick out from the whisker biscuit, not including the arrow head? How do you determine the poundage at your draw length? Choosing the right arrow is essential to repeatable accuracy, even if your sling bow is shot from a vice. Proper arrow choice and set-up depends on poundage at full draw, arrow length, length of power stroke, and fletching basically to determine what spine strength ( flexibility ), will give the best chance of repeatable accuracy. These, and having matched arrow weights and straightness make the difference between having 1″ groups and 5″ groups even at shorter sling bow ranges. Monster bands/tubes and upper body strength are all that would be needed for longer ranges of up to 80+ yards. I just recently purchased a Hammer. Love the slingshot and have already ordered more bands for it and the sling bow head already. Have not fired the sling bow yet. Want to optimize some arrows for it first.
The Hammer Slingbow Video Owners Manual outlines this question: http://simpleshot.academy/project/the-hammer-owners-manual/
The Hammer is a true center shot, and although spine is important…it is not as important as with a traditional bow. Arrows in the 35-55# spine range or .350 deflection should work very well.
Draw length: http://simpleshot.academy/how-can-i-measure-my-draw-length/
Your power stroke would be your draw length minus your active band length: http://simpleshot.academy/active-band-length/
Your poundage is easiest to determine using a bow scale. Our standard slingbow bands are about 36# at 28″
Suggestion: tell us all how powerful bands people can use in shooting. I use RAMBONE2.0 by Jörg Sprave, with 3 layers of theraband gold each side. And draw weight is nice. But I would like shoot more powerful slingshot. Do you have any experience with this issue?
If you are not shooting massive (1ounce plus) projectiles, you are wasting your energy with so much elastic. Heavy is not always faster. Always match your bands to your projectile: http://simpleshot.academy/project/matching-bands-to-ammo/
Hi, looks like your article about matching bands and ammo is missing something.
https://simple-shot.com/bandset-users-guide/ : “a comparison chart can be found here” but no chart found.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention! That line should not have been in there!
Hi Nathan. I am enjoying several of your slingshots with various band types based on the ammo I am shooting. It has been great fun. The latest one I am playing with is the Hammer with slingbow set up. I have only been at it for one shooting session. I feel fairly dorky getting the arrow nock into the D-string, attaching the mechanical release and beginning to draw back with tension. Many times, the D-loop string is coming out of the nock when I begin to pull tension. I have fumbled around trying different things but have yet to figure out how to engage tension using the mechanical release while still holding the D-loop in the nock. Any suggestions or videos I may have overlooked? Thanks.
Here you go: http://simpleshot.academy/project/slingbow-pro-tips-nock-fit-tutorial/
If the nocks are too loose, you may try pinching the knock closed for a better grip on the serving.
I would like to have information on how to set up a shoot, I’m in NE. Texas. I have watched shoots in Mexico, New Mexico , East Coast, and in England on Youtube and they look like great fun
Much like the hit movie Field of Dreams….plan it and they will come.
Seriously, just share the idea on forums and with local friends. Find a good spot to shoot, pick a date, and put out the word. Slingshots are curious and most importantly, FUN. Be sure to spread the word focusing on the fun aspect of gathering together to shoot. Not everyone likes to compete, but almost everyone likes to shoot for fun. Be sure to have plenty of fun targets, cold beverages, and BBQ and make it family friendly.
I’d like to see more teaching on achieving better accuracy with a slingshot, or on troubleshooting accuracy problems. I’ve watched the two videos you posted on basic aiming, and also the one on intuitive aim, and they helped quite a lot. I was really shooting horribly at first – shots going all over the place, but now I’m getting tighter groupings of shots around the target. (I was hooking my thumb over the ammo.)
So I’ve been drilling myself on those basics with every shot – grip the ammo with the bony parts of the thumb and index finger – thumb straight – consistent anchor point – fork parallel to body – clean release – follow through… shots slowly getting closer together (after a LOT of shooting), but still, not really nailing my target most of the time, even at shorter distances. There are times, when I get a poor shot, when I can tell exactly what I did wrong, but there are other times when I thought everything looked and felt perfect.
Is there more to know about aiming and shooting a slingshot more accurately, beyond the basics?
Hi Nathan, just letting you know I saw the announcement of your new Pro Tips video series on accuracy – thank you so much! I’m heading there now.
We actually had this video shot and it was being edited when you made your first post! Great minds?
Could you suggest any comments or links for building Catch boxes for Sling Shots? There are several already on YouTube, but Still looking for ideas maybe from your Customers! Thanks!
Great question.
We posted here about it http://simpleshot.academy/project/how-to-make-a-catchbox/ and made a video about making a catch box out of a cardboard box here: https://youtu.be/5r-lDYyM1vQ
I purchased a 58 gallon olive barrel from a local tote and container company. Cut an opening in the side and reinforced opening with 1”x 2” wood strips. Put a plywood bulkhead in the top portion to serve as a storage compartment. Draped a bath towel over an all thread rod using Velcro. Drilled holes in the bulkhead, ran paracord through the holes and attached small carabiners to hang cans and targets from. Turned out to be my best catch box. I also have catch boxes made from 27 gallon tote boxes from Home Depot. Use what ever your imagination and wallet will allow. Get creative and have fun.
Consider selling dogwood forks to those of us who really do live in the desert!
Hi! I own a hammer slingbow, and at the moment my arrows are wobbling in flight before they straighten out. Do you know what may be causing this?
I bought a slingshot from another company. Not one of my better decisions. First and foremost there wasn’t any instruction as to how to tie the bands nor any safety features. I had to go to their web site to set up my slingshot. With Simple-Shot not only did I get a manual but safety instructions as well.
Glad we could help!
Good day I actually just want to know
If you ship to south africa and what would it cost me for the full Hammer XT kit including everything.
And just ons question about the hammer XT why did you go with one tube and not 2 as the old or previous hammer?
Hope you can help
Kind regards Michael van Dyk
Hi Michael.
We do ship to South Africa. The only way to get a quote is to enter your shipping info into an order (shipping will show BEFORE ordering, don’t worry).
We use a single strand with the XT so that it may be installed with the ball and tube method. It is a very powerful tube, so a loop would be almost impossible to pull!
Hi
it would be great to learn how to use all those “glowing” sight points on some slingshots. i have been searching whole internet hunting any video image or description how use these but – NOTHING! not single video anywhere.
thanks in advance for help.
Pawel
We don’t currently offer any slingshots with optical sights and we’ve not released any videos therefore.
You might try searching the web for “optical sight” and find some info.
I like to use Theraband gold flatband to my Hammer slingbow.
Do you know how much rubber I need?
30 pound?
40 pound?
50 pound?
Sure. You’re in the right place!
Try this article for starters: https://simpleshot.academy/project/pro-tip-slingshot-performance-band-tuning/
Anything that comes up here when you search “tuning” or “band performance” will get you loads of help!
Got my axiom ocularis last week and just put another order in for my dad I swear he’s just a way bigger kid then I am. Much mahalo my friend
Thank you!
I am just getting started after a 60 year absence from sling shots. To determine where the shot is going I went out and shot into my pond. about 30 ft out noting where the shot hit and what was the aiming point on the slingshot. That helped. The same could be done with a water puddle. I have since set up a cardboard box catch box for 10ft inside the house, a temporary out in the workshop for 25ft, and I am going to build a 35ft one for outside to shoot at from the deck. The steel 3/8 balls are beautiful. I also have clay. Using the Axiom Oclaris. Asking my self do I really need another slingshot ??? Bill NWOhio
That’s super cool! Thanks for sharing!
There is a video tutorial on how to use the band tying jig which I cannot find. Can you please advise me how to access this video?
John Heath
Is this the one?
